৯০ নং সুরা আল-বালাদ

بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু [1] لا أُقسِمُ بِهٰذَا البَلَدِ [1] আমি এই নগরীর শপথ করি [1] I swear by this city (Makkah); [2] وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهٰذَا البَلَدِ [2] এবং এই নগরীতে আপনার উপর কোন প্রতিবন্ধকতা নেই। [2] And you are free (from sin and to punish the enemies of Islâm on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah) , [3] وَوالِدٍ وَما وَلَدَ [3] শপথ জনকের ও যা জন্ম দেয়। [3] And by the begetter (i.e. Adam A.S.) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); [4] لَقَد خَلَقنَا الإِنسٰنَ فى كَبَدٍ [4] নিশ্চয় আমি মানুষকে শ্রমনির্ভররূপে সৃষ্টি করেছি। [4] Verily, We have created man in toil. [5] أَيَحسَبُ أَن لَن يَقدِرَ عَلَيهِ أَحَدٌ [5] সে কি মনে করে যে, তার উপর কেউ ক্ষমতাবান হবে না ? [5] Does he think that none can overcome him? [6] يَقولُ أَهلَكتُ مالًا لُبَدًا [6] সে বলেঃ আমি প্রচুর ধন-সম্পদ ব্যয় করেছি। [6] He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" [7] أَيَحسَبُ أَن لَم يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ [7] সে কি মনে করে যে, তাকে কেউ দেখেনি? [7] Does he think that none sees him? [8] أَلَم نَجعَل لَهُ عَينَينِ [8] আমি কি তাকে দেইনি চক্ষুদ্বয়, [8] Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? [9] وَلِسانًا وَشَفَتَينِ [9] জিহবা ও ওষ্ঠদ্বয় ? [9] And a tongue and a pair of lips? [10] وَهَدَينٰهُ النَّجدَينِ [10] বস্তুতঃ আমি তাকে দু’টি পথ প্রদর্শন করেছি। [10] And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? [11] فَلَا اقتَحَمَ العَقَبَةَ [11] অতঃপর সে ধর্মের ঘাঁটিতে প্রবেশ করেনি। [11] But he has not attempted to pass on the path that is steep (i.e. the path which will lead to goodness and success). [12] وَما أَدرىٰكَ مَا العَقَبَةُ [12] আপনি জানেন, সে ঘাঁটি কি? [12] And what will make you know the path that is steep? [13] فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ [13] তা হচ্ছে দাসমুক্তি [13] (It is) Freeing a neck (slave) [14] أَو إِطعٰمٌ فى يَومٍ ذى مَسغَبَةٍ [14] অথবা দুর্ভিক্ষের দিনে অন্নদান। [14] Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), [15] يَتيمًا ذا مَقرَبَةٍ [15] এতীম আত্বীয়কে [15] To an orphan near of kin. [16] أَو مِسكينًا ذا مَترَبَةٍ [16] অথবা ধুলি-ধুসরিত মিসকীনকে [16] Or to a Miskîn (poor) cleaving to dust (out of misery). [17] ثُمَّ كانَ مِنَ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَتَواصَوا بِالصَّبرِ وَتَواصَوا بِالمَرحَمَةِ [17] অতঃপর তাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হওয়া, যারা ঈমান আনে এবং পরস্পরকে উপদেশ দেয় সবরের ও উপদেশ দেয় দয়ার। [17] Then he became one of those who believed, (in the Islamic Monothsim) and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. [18] أُولٰئِكَ أَصحٰبُ المَيمَنَةِ [18] তারাই সৌভাগ্যশালী। [18] They are those on the Right Hand (i.e. the dwellers of Paradise), [19] وَالَّذينَ كَفَروا بِـٔايٰتِنا هُم أَصحٰبُ المَشـَٔمَةِ [19] আর যারা আমার আয়াতসমূহ অস্বীকার করে তারাই হতভাগা। [19] But those who disbelieved in Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell) [20] عَلَيهِم نارٌ مُؤصَدَةٌ [20] তারা অগ্নিপরিবেষ্টিত অবস্থায় বন্দী থাকবে। [20] The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet.
